David Braley Health Sciences Centre is a new construction building located in the heart of downtown Hamilton, Ontario. This 195,000 square foot, LEED certified building is home to a large family of health clinics for over 15,000 patients. Classrooms, teaching areas and a lecture hall is also available for students on site for classes and clinical learning.
L.J. Barton Mechanical was responsible for the complete mechanical scope for this 7 storey building. The Centre featured a grey water system for the rainwater to be reused in the WC. Equipment included multiple air handling units, in floor heating throughout the ground floor and floors above, pumps, heat exchangers, radiant heating, fans, unit heaters and complete plumbing fixtures. Variance in tendered price to final project value was due to the addition of supports for Plenums, temp heating, renovations to the second, fifth and sixth floor, installation of heat exchangers, changes in the generator room and an addition of a dry cooler system.
