McMaster University Medical Centre – Biocontainment Suites Laboratory CL3

Project Details

Alterations made to an existing lab converting it to a CL3 BIOCONTAINMENT LAB on Level 4 of McMaster University Medical Centre. L.J. Barton Mechanical’s scope of work included installation of Custom Air Handling Units, Humidifiers, Heat Exchangers, Expansion Tank for Glycol Heating, Automatic Valves, Volume Control Valves, Air Cooled Scroll Chiller, Medical Gas Piping, Pumps, BAS, insulation and associated piping. Some of the work took place in MUMC`s interstitial space. The project involved extensive detail regarding ventilation schematics, air flow and differential pressures. Particular attention had to be given to the specifications during construction to ensure the lab was 100% sealed.
